Frequently asked questions about our rates & prices
If your benefits cover acupuncture performed by a Registered Acupuncturist (R. Ac) and you are actually receiving acupuncture as part of your appointment then yes! Most of our services include needling. Please read this section carefully to avoid disappointment:
Check with your Organization first:
Each workplace has a unique plan. It’s up to you to find out from your organization or insurance provider which specific services are covered prior to making an appointment.
If you didn’t actually receive any Clinical Acupuncture during your appointment, we can’t bill it as such
For ethical, Insurance and CTCMPAO policy considerations as Regulated Healthcare providers, we are legally bound to specify which services were performed on all receipts. We want to make sure we do our work honestly and wouldn’t want you or us to get in trouble! Thank you for understanding.
Insurance Companies tend to only cover medical related expenses. Therefore Clinical Acupuncture appointments are usually (but not always) covered. Cosmetic, Herbal and virtual appointments may not be covered. Make sure to double check with us and your organization prior to booking an appointment.
Sometimes, but only if you book with one of our Acupuncturist’ who are also RMT’s. Usually these therapists with double Accreditations can bill your treatment as an RMT service with some exceptions including Cosmetic Acupuncture as it falls outside of the scope of an RMT treatment according to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Please note every insurance plan is unique to the workplace organization; it’s the patient’s responsibility to determine and clarify plan coverage eligibility prior to booking an appointment.
Sorry we do not offer direct billing. You will be required to pay for the service at the end of each session upon which you will get an emailed receipt. All of our therapists are Registered and depending on your insurance provider/plan you will likely be able to get reimbursement if you plan covers acupuncture.
Yes, there are a few circumstances where we do charge an administrative fee
Receipts- Reoccurring requests for duplicate receipts or requests for customized receipts will be subject to an administrative charge. Please note that receipts are emailed after each session. Each receipt has all the information required for benefit re-imbursement as well as taxes. Only one receipt will be issued. It’s your responsibility to organize and keep receipts.
Documents- There is a charge for supplying additional documents or reports outside of our clinic record keeping. These include special custom documents, distribution of patient files to patients (photocopying/scanning), medical reports, lawyer/insurance/3rd party documents etc.
Administrative Fee: $100/hour
No, our clinic does not accept WSIB claim cases.
Most of our services are HST exempt with a couple exceptions:
- COSMETIC SERVICES- HST is applicable on all Cosmetic Services.
- RMT BILLED RECEIPTS– If you book with our RMT (who’s also a Registered Acupuncturist) and you wish to bill the treatment as an “RMT treatment”, HST must be charged. Our RMT’s have both designations (RMT and R.Ac) so after most treatments choose how the treatment is billed. All receipts stating that an RMT service was performed need HST added however acupuncture even when performed by an RMT is exempt.
The CRA determines which services are HST exempt.
We only accept credit card payments for our online telemedicine appointments. You therapist will collect payment information at the end of the session.
All Cosmetic Appointments are subject to HST. As a result, our receipts will itemize-the “HST”, “Acupuncture” and “Cosmetic Acupuncture” portions of each appointment. It is your responsibility to check the details of your benefit package prior to booking as insurance plans widely vary.
No. We are professionally obligated to provide accurate and transparent receipts. We protect our professional designations and wouldn’t want you to get in trouble either! Our clinic is fully compliant with all governing bodies including the CTCMPAO, Insurance companies and the CRA.
